A small piece (about 30x20 cms) that I've done I don't even know what for (cupboard, perhaps!). But enjoyed it! I might change the eye, don't really like it.
I might replace the photo later, I noticed it's pretty crappy.
Fave ++++++ Really like the split photo idea too. The bottom image is as sharp as you could possibly get it. Love those frosted little beads. Who needs a reason to make beautiful things.
Swimmingly gorgeous Betti.
Swimmers Anonymous! I think I'm a member of that club too.
The problem with the photo is that it doesn't show the colours properly at all. The blue and the green are so much more distinct in reality! I'll try to take another one of it somehow. I love the frosted beads, too. The beads idea - how surprising! - came from you, and although it's not nearly as cool as the things you do, I quite like how it turned out after all. I have a lot of beads that I used for jewellery earlier, waiting for me to do something with them. It's lucky they don't expire.
But you're not swimmer anonymous, you're Sue Swimmer.
The type of light you take an image in has a big bearing on how well the colours look. An ordinary light bulb will give things a yellowish tinge, a neon a green, blue or magenta tinge, depending on the gases in it. Direct sunlight washes out the colour. The best is a bright but cloudy day. Nice diffused light. And no wind of course. Thats how I photograph all of my textile stuff. Wait for a cloudy day. If you can adjust the White Balance in your camera, it will compensate for the type of light you are shooting in.
Hey, I inspired you to use the beads? Wow, thats great. I too have lots of them, and there is no way I am ever going to wear them as jewelry. I seem to incorporate them into a lot of sewing projects, naivly in the hope I will use them up. But I always seem to get new ones. I agree, thank goodness there is no used by date.
I love the texture of the fabric you've used and such lovely aqua colours. Must get some of those frosted beads, very nice indeed.
I feel vaguely offended because your emoticon says I talk too much! Tell your emoticon to make friends with mine. Otherwise? Internets wars.
I know, now, that the direct sunlight was to blame. Thank you for the tip, I'll take another one - probably this weekend. We have a lot of rain here, today I got soaked twice. It was soooo good! Anyway - usually I don't adjust WB because I'm too lazy. I love the texture of the fabric, too! And it looks cool on the photo.
